Free Training Programs and Coaching

Questions on training...Meet your coach:

Hello! My name is Bernardo, and I have been a running coaching for Stanford University under the Department of Athletics and Health Improvement Programs since 2008. I have also been the assistant running coach for the Silicon Valley Triathlon Club for a number of years.

At Stanford I train athletes, students, faculty and staff to run various distance events from 5Ks to marathons. As for myself, I prefer long courses from half ironman and half marathon to ironman and marathon distances. My current running PR's are 17:41 in the 5K, 37:16 in the 10K, 1:21:13 in the half marathon and 2:57:51 in the marathon.

I am very happy to be a running coach for USA Productions. I have been the 1:30 pacer for the NorCal Half Marathon for the last two years and the 3:25 Pacer for the Morgan Hill Marathon race. I will look forward to doing it again in 2013.

We will have 12 weeks; during that time, follow the training plan as well as you can. As with all training plans, it is merely a guideline and not set in stone. Feel free to modify it to suit your needs and current fitness level. I will also send out a weekly group work out. It is my hope that you will gather at a specific location on Sunday at 9:00am and practice sections of the course if you happen to live in or nearby Fremont/Niles area. Track work outs are included in the training as well if you can find a convenient and open track location in the area.

I look forward to meeting you one of these Sundays in Niles.
Sincerely,
Bernardo Tapia

Start slow if you are a beginner!!! I cannot stress this enough. Walk, do not run.
